It's Official - Mexicana Airlines has stopped service!
by Rebecca Bliefernich on September 01, 2010
Mexicana Group announced that it's three airlines, Mexicana Airlines, MexicanaClick and MexicanaLink have suspended all flight operations as of Saturday, August 28, 2010.  I didn't hear a word about it on the news - and I'm sure there are folks that are in for a nasty surprise at the airport this weekend for that last long weekend vacation in Mexico.  At Azumano we are contacting our clients to help them get a refund and new tickets on other airlines.  That's just part of the...

Keeping Children Safe
by Shirley Tack on August 26, 2010
It may seem abundantly obvious, yet it can’t be said enough: Children, especially the littlest ones, must be supervised at all times by adults. Letting children roam and simply forgetting about them for a few minutes of badly needed grown-up R&R just isn’t an option.Fortunately, airports are beginning to realize that engaging the attention of child travelers makes it less likely that they or their parents will just wander off, wondering what on earth to do. Airports in the United...

Don't Stand in Line for the Famous Museum Admissions!
by Rebecca Bliefernich on August 26, 2010
Did you know there are ways to get an advance ticket to most of the famous museums in the world?  Two countries I sell the most have museums on the must see list - France and Italy.  In France there is a museum pass, over 70 museums on one pass!  It also includes discounts for plenty of other tourist sights.  No standing in line to get into the Louvre - it has a separate entrance and escalator for ticket holders.  In Italy several museums are capacity controlled and you...

Haneda (Another Tokyo International) Airport)
by Noriko Sato on August 25, 2010
It is exciting to see Haneda Airport is going to be "reborn" in a few months! Unlike Narita Airport which has been Tokyo's International AP since 1978 replacing Haneda, it takes only 20-30 minutes from downtown Tokyo.Such a short cut, comparing to more than 2 hours of transfer time to Narita. The international terminal is well connected with Monorail from near Tokyo Station, and with KEIHIN (train) Line which opens accesses to both Tokyo/Yokohama and beyond. The interior of the...

Lake of the Woods, Oregon
by Dot Smay on August 23, 2010
I just returned from a week long family camping trip to Lake of The Woods, Oregon. The  Lake of The Woods Resort  is just above Klamath Falls and is very beautiful.  There are cabins of all sizes for those who need the comforts of home or you can bring your own comforts and stay in the RV park. Some of us did both and others pitched the tents in the campground. At the lake there is a store, a restaurant, a large outside eating area if you want to cook your own and a...

The Galapagos!
by Denise Vogel on August 23, 2010
The Galapagos Islands are famous for a variety of unusual creatures, from marine iguanas to blue-footed boobies. You will get closer to the wildlife than you would anywhere else in the world. The archipelago lies 600 miles off the coast of South America and is reached via a short flight from Quito, Ecuador. The isolation and late discovery by humans, along with a historical lack of predators has set the stage for a unique environmental experiment and developed into perhaps the greatest showcase...

Designing Independent Trips to Europe
by Heather Hanssen on August 20, 2010
I find that the best trips to Europe are planned 4-6 months in advance.  This give us plenty of time to find availability in those smaller favorite boutique hotels.  Part of the prepartation is learning about the destination and reading my favorites guide book, Eye Witness Travel Guides. ...

Traditional Inn in Takayama Japan
by Isae Lafferty on August 20, 2010
If you're looking for a destination that captures the tradition of Japan's feudal age, you should consider a wonderful Japanese Inn in Takayama, located in a moutainous region northwest of Tokyo.  The Inn, Hida Gasshoen-Inn of Gassho zukuri and Iroribata- http://www.gasshou.jp/menu01.html - is built around an old farm house which was moved from its original location to serve as the dining area. The farm house was built more than 250 years ago in the "Gassho" style, which has...

Lake Pend'Orielle
by Gina Crosby on August 17, 2010
I just had to put a plug in for the beautiful Lake Pend'Orelle (which isn't pronounced like it looks) which is located by Sandpoint, Idaho.  We rented a lake house actually on the river which also looks like a lake.  The pine trees surrounded the beautiful blue colored lake that made it very picturesque.  How fun to have boat activities during the day and sit out on the deck to enjoy the sunsets. We saw some wild life also including moose, bald eagles, deer, bats, and geese that...

Best of Maui
by Connie Hope on August 16, 2010
Fairmont Kea Lani in Wailea is a luxury oceanfront resort with suites and private villas. The grounds were wonderfully landscaped with three pools, two hot tubs and all  by the beach with views of.Molokini and Kaho'olawe.  .Great for adults as well as families, since the Kids club is very active.  The weather could not have been more pefect everyday along this southwestern coast of Maui.  What an easy non stop flight to choose from Portland, either Hawaiian or Alaska Airlines...
