Azumano Travel Expands Into Alaska

PORTLAND, OREGON (January 10, 2005) - Azumano Travel, an American Express Travel Services Representative, has expanded operations in the Pacific Northwest Region by assuming ownership, effective January 1, 2005, of the American Express One operation in Alaska, it was announced today by Azumano president and CEO Sho Dozono. The office, which will retain the American Express branding as its primary identity, mainly serves corporate and government accounts and is located in Anchorage near Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.

"This is an ambitious expansion that enables us to enlarge our customer base and extend our service area from the Willamette Valley in Oregon to the Puget Sound in Washington and on into Alaska," said Dozono. "The move provides the opportunity to strengthen service to regional accounts and to offer full vacation and cruise planning services in the future," he added, noting that the expansion "also provides the opportunity for Azumano to extend travel-related American Express financial services, such as gift cheques, gift cards and travelers cheques, to local customers."

In a similar move in the fall of 2003, Azumano acquired four wholly owned American Express offices in the Puget Sound area. Those offices are operated by Azumano but retain the American Express brand as their primary identity.

Dozono said he expects the Anchorage move to strengthen Azumano's relationship with American Express in much the same way as did the expansion in the Puget Sound area. He added, "This is yet another opportunity to work more closely together to grow the American Express Network strategically, while at the same time support the agency's long-term business strategy of creating a significant footprint in the Pacific Northwest regional market place."

Azumano Travel was founded in 1949 in Portland, Oregon. Last year, the company was named by TravelAge West as a "Best of the West" travel agency and identified as #7 among the leading revenue producers of the 14 Western states. The Azumano Group (retail and wholesale) employs a staff of 250 and has sales revenues in excess of $150 million, with offices in Portland (2), Beaverton, Tigard, Salem, Albany, Corvallis and Eugene in Oregon and Vancouver, Seattle (2), Redmond and Issaquah in Washington.
